The coming of Jesus Christ into this world is the centre point of human history and always be so. The glory of the LORD is revealed in Jesus Christ.
“And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken”
Isaiah 40:5
In every experience of life Jesus is Immanuel-God with us. He arrived on earth through the miracle of His birth. He accomplished the mission to save sinners through His death. He lives as the Mediator between God and man for ever and ever more.
“All this took place to fulfil what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: ‘Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call His name Immanuel (which means God with us)”
Matthew 1:22,23
The Bible speaks into the realities of our lives. And because it is the Word of God it always brings to us strength and hope for every circumstance.
This life is a gift from God. It is beautiful but also fragile.
“All flesh is like grass, and all its beauty is like the flowers of the field. The grass withers, the flowers fade, but the Word of God will stand forever”

God is giving direction through the prophet Isaiah to people who in future would speak the word of the Lord. They would look into Scripture to find what they should say and do in their time.
What are we to say? What are we to do? How are we to respond to these times we live in?
The whole chapter of Isaiah 40 is packed full of anticipations of the birth of Jesus Christ who is our hope and our strength.
It is God speaking tenderly to His weary people bringing comfort to them.
At the end of the chapter there is a promise of renewed strength.
“They who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength”
Isaiah 40:31
Every generation growing up today along with every other generation are in desperate need of hope.
And God has called us as His people to tell them why they can set their hope in God.
Tell them that His word always proofs true and what He promises will come to pass.
“When your sin asks you in time to come, ‘What is the meaning of the testimonies and the statutes and the rules that the LORD our God has command you?”
Deuteronomy 6:20
God gave commands, God gave the law, to show us how to walk in a way that honour Him. Which not only brings Him glory, but also for our own good. What He tells us to do and not to do are for our blessing and our benefit, so that we can live in obedience to God everlasting.
We are to tell every coming generation that this world feel like a hopeless place and our guilt is great. But ther is hope – there is salvation in the blood of the Lamb
Take shelter under the blood and ensure the coming generations know what the Lord has done
You are established in Christ. You are already following Jesus for a few years.
The great danger is that you may overestimate the strength of your position and that you may forget that the flesh is weak. Therefore you need to watch and pray so that you do not fall into temptation.
“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing but the body is weak”
Matthew 26:41
When you feel overwhelmed by your own sin, remember that there is a promise to trust Jesus knows when you have regret and a broken and contrite heart He will not despise.
Trust in the promise and seek the Saviour. Jesus died on the cross so that our worst sins will not be the end of us. Seek Him and draw near to Him and He will draw near to you and speak peace to you soul.
Then fulfil the mission for God can use the hardest things in your life to prepare you for the work He has for you.
