We are looking at the love story of a king who loves his bride as a lens through which to look at the love of Christ for His own people and particularly the experiences that we have when God seems to be far away.
Through Jesus ascension there is an assurance of His finished work and giving us a future.
We now have confidence that He is in control as He rule and reign as our King until all enemies is under His feet.
We also have the knowledge of knowing that we are not alone for He sent the Holy Spirit to be with His own.
A hope for us that there is a future as He has gone to prepare a place for us and will for us to be with Him forever.
Do you feel the love of Christ for you arising out of His great sympathy, seen in the strength of His resolve, through every difficulty, despite of every deficiency, and even through the worst of disloyalty?
This disciple of Jesus Christ who was once afraid of being associated with Jesus was eventually willing to change the course – to take up his cross and give his life for Christ.
And his life still gives us a clear model of what it means to be a fully devoted disciple of Christ.
If you know God you know love, if you haveGod you have love, if God fills you love fills you. Therefore if you want to love well, you need to find and know God.
A storm blows up in your life, the wind is against you, you are straining at the oars, and Jesus seems far away! Your faith is tested – where will confidence then come from?
We are looking at a story about grievance. It is about a desire for justice, about the anger of a person who has been wounded, and how God then graciously restrains our most destructive impulses. And how God brings justice and how He promotes peace.
When born again by the Spirit, we are part of the kingdom of God and are therefor drafted as disciples of Jesus – the One we say yes too and set out to follow.
When we are hurt we lose perspective. We don’t see things clearly and the wrong been done to us fills the mind.
“Whoever desires to love life and see good days …. let him seek peace and pursue it”
